Hey all,
It has been quite a month, quite a summer and well, quite a year. We are quickly approaching little Allegra's first birthday (jaw drop), and I am realizing that she won't be a baby much longer. Life goes so fast.
On the other end of the spectrum, last weekend we sadly traveled to O'Fallon, MO, for my Grandma Prize's funeral. She died rather suddenly last Friday morning after being admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with pneumonia in both lungs. She was a wonderful, wonderful woman of whom I'm proud to be a descendent. It was so good to be with my Dad's side of the family Sunday and Monday, but of course it was difficult as well to be reminded of all that happened five years ago with Dad. I feel like another connection to him has been broken in Grandma, who perhaps loved him more whole heartedly than anyone with mother love. I thought of this as I held Samuel's hand out to the grave sight and realized she probably held Dad's hand very similarly years ago. We had much in common.
My heart and prayers especially go out to my Grandpa Prize though, who is in frail condition anyway, and hasn't been without Grandma more than a day or two for the past 60 years. As all of us grandkids say, "I loves my Grandpa!"
Family is so worth tenaciously loving and spending all the time you can together. In the end, just being there is what's most important. (Grandma and I played a lot of Yatzee! for no better reason).
